The Studies Department of the Nathan Hale Foreign Policy Society seeks to advance the overall mission of the foreign policy society by accumulating an online library of papers that address key issues and strategic questions confronting U.S. foreign policy today. Our research has three primary aims:

·          To provide a forum for the rising generation of foreign policy specialists to develop ideas and prescriptive measures for addressing current foreign policy questions;

·          To provide a forum for our experts to develop ideas, insights, and prescriptive measures for addressing strategic issues affecting the long-term course of U.S. foreign policy; and

·          To make these insights available in an accessible form to academic, research, and policy communities.

We are organized into twelve regional and thematic research programs and work to produce two primary products for publication on the Internet and in print:

·          Policy Background & Options Papers.  Our Policy Background and Options Papers address contemporary issues facing U.S. foreign policy by providing brief historical background, an overview of existing policy, a review of forward-looking policy options, and analysis of the relative merits and drawbacks of each option.

·          Issue Briefs.  We also produce shorter Issue Briefs designed to define and provide background on issues that face policymakers or will in the immediate future.
